History of Ocean Republic.

Ocean Republic was founded in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2018 by Octavio Navarro, with a Clear vision of making diving accessible to everyone through individual and small group instruction. With over 31 years of diving experience and deep love for the ocean, Navarro saw the need to create an organization that would not only teach scuba diving but also inspire positive change in the community, especially among the youth of Puerto Rico.

Ocean Republic’s mission since its inception has been to inspire and empower people of all ages and backgrounds, showing them a new perspective on life through diving. With a focus on low-income commonuties, where there is a perceived tunnel vision approach to opportunity, Ocean Republic has set out to break those stereotypes and open up a world of possibilities across the ocean.

From the beginning the organization has been dedicated to offering personalized small group instruction allowing each participant to receive specialized care and a safe, enriching diving experience. Through discipline, social awareness, teamwork and responsibility Ocean Republic has managed to not only teach diving, but also cultivate core values and a deep respect for the ocean and its inhabitants.

Over the years, Ocean Republic has grown and expanded in its activities. In addition to diving instructions the organization is actively involved in marine conservation projects, including coral restoration and beach cleanups. These initiatives not only contribute to preservation of the marine environment, but also provide participants with an invaluable opportunity to get involved in concrete ocean protection actions.
